$2.5 MILLION BOND SET FOR MAN ACCUSED OF MURDER

November 25, 2019 – The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office of Melissa A. Schiffel announces bond has been set at $2.5 million for 27-year-old Brandon Ivy.

Ivy is charged with the November 22, 2019 murder of 53-year-old Stephanie Hunter. An autopsy confirms strangulation as the cause of death.

“This is a senseless and tragic loss of life,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa A. Schiffel. “Our office is heartbroken at this outcome. We are not only familiar with Ms. Hunter, but with the defendant, who was recently found guilty of two counts of second-degree burglary and two counts of violating a protection order in two other cases also involving Ms. Hunter. In both cases, our office asked that the defendant be sent to prison.”

Ivy received three years court-ordered community control, which he was serving at the time of the murder.

“Stephanie had a big heart,” said Prosecutor Schiffel. “Sadly, our focus will now be on making sure Ivy never has the opportunity to harm anyone else again.”

Ivy is being held in the Delaware County Jail.
