COLUMBUS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO AGGRAVATED MURDER AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

On June 18, 2024, 23-year-old Zackeyis Davis pled guilty to Aggravated Murder, an unclassified felony, and Attempted Murder, a felony of the first degree. Davis also pled guilty to two gun specifications for using a firearm during the offenses.

Judge David Gormley sentenced Davis the same day, and for the crime of Aggravated Murder, Davis received a life sentence with parole eligibility after 30 years for killing Alejandro Fajardo-Torres during a robbery attempt at an Auto Zone in Delaware County on August 24, 2023. Davis was sentenced to an additional 10 years for attempted murder for a separate incident where he shot and paralyzed a man as he was leaving his place of work on Morse Road. Davis also received an additional six years for the gun specifications. In total, Davis was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 46 years.

“Alejandro is a hero. His selfless actions protected a high school student and prevented further harm to him.” Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said. “This is senseless violence and Davis’s actions show a complete disregard for human life. Multiple lives are now forever changed—and none of it needed to happen.”
