Rayshawn Lamont Anderson, was sentenced on November 25 to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 27 years for the murder of 38-year-old Alonzo Byrd. Anderson was found guilty of multiple charges including Murder in October by a Delaware County jury. Anderson, 17 at the time of the murder, was originally charged in Juvenile Court, but the Prosecution sought to try Anderson as an adult.
Judge David Gormley sentenced Anderson to a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years for the charge of Murder. Anderson was also sentenced 6-9 years in prison for the discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited premises charge, a felony of the second degree, and a mandatory six years for two separate firearm specifications. Judge Gormley found that Anderson’s conduct warranted consecutive sentences.
