TRIO SENTENCED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

November 8, 2018 – The last of three men indicted for drug crimes in Delaware County was sentenced today in the Delaware County Common Pleas Court.

Salvador Gomez, 57, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years post release control. He was also ordered to pay a $20,000 fine. Gomez pleaded guilty in October to two counts of trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies.

Gomez, from California, is one of three men charged after being pulled over on April 5, 2018 as part of an ongoing investigation.

“The men were traveling south from Toledo in two separate vehicles when they were pulled over in Delaware County,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien. “ A search of the vehicles resulted in the seizure of a massive amount of drugs, 4.4 pounds of cocaine all coming to the central Ohio area.”

Jose Jr. Del Rio, also from California, pleaded guilty in August to trafficking in cocaine, a first-degree felony charge that carried with it a major drug offender specification. The 26-year-old was sentenced to eleven years in prison and five years post release control.

Gerardo Marroquin-Perez, 34, pleaded guilty in August to two counts of trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies. Marroquin-Perez, from Columbus, was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years post release control.
