February 14, 2025 – Benjamin Russell was sentenced to 36 months in prison by Judge James P. Schuck today for
Domestic Violence, a felony of the third degree. Russell was found guilty on February 12th by a Delaware County
jury after a two-day trial.
“This is just one of the many cases our Domestic Violence Prosecutor Beth Matune handles every single day.
Domestic violence continues to plague our community and last year nearly 70 cases were presented for felony
charges.” Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said. “This is alarming considering most domestic
violence cases that come to our office are felonies only because offenders have a prior conviction for domestic
violence or another related charge. But, we are here to support survivors no matter their situation and we
encourage anyone to reach out to our office for support. No one should suffer in silence.”
If you or someone you know is victim of domestic violence, help is available. You can reach out to Turning
Point, a local domestic violence shelter, at 740-382-8988 or our Victim Services Unit directly at 740-833-2710.
As always, if you are in immediate danger, please call 9-1-1.
This case was prosecuted by Domestic Violence Prosecutor Beth Matune and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Macy Zachary.
